When a PDF has a real text layer, the words can be pulled out directly, in reading order, into a plain .txt file you can search, paste or feed to another tool. Locavert does this on your device; the PDF never leaves your browser.
Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages and have no text layer. Locavert recognises them before converting and tells you, rather than producing an empty file. Encrypted PDFs ask for their password on the row. Markdown output is also available if you want headings kept.
